I need more storage in my house, can you help?
Yes we can! There are many ways to increase storage in your home while maintaining a sleek, minimal, clutter-free atmosphere. We've helped many people make the most of their space from adding decorative shelving in living areas, custom cabinets in office spaces, adding a cedar closet to an attic space, and benches and shelving in mudroom areas.
I'm in need of a better home office work space, what can I expect if I contact you about a project like this?
These projects are exciting for us, and the transformation of a home office space should give you a fresh, energized and organized feeling once completed! We would begin with a site visit to your home to speak with you about your needs for wall shelving, cabinets, and desk space. While there we will take measurements as well as assess the positioning of electrical and other utilites. After discussing the basic layout and any other custom aspects such as a hardwood desk, crown molding, shelf lighting, drawers, specialty hardware or other details, we will draw up a basic estimate.
If you choose to hire us for your project, we will require a deposit to schedule your project, and draw a more detailed design plan for your approval. You may at this point decide to change some elements, and we can discuss this and draft a new estimate as needed. Once the final estimate is plan (if requested) is approved, we will purchase materials. Generally the deposit amount includes the full cost of materials we purchase, plus a third of the estimated cost of labor.
We strive for honesty and try to stay within our estimates so you can have confidence in our services. Only on rare occasions such as if additional work is requested by you after our agreement, or if the cost of material increases by the time we make the purchase, may we request a change order or draft a new agreement with you. We believe in trust, accountability, mutual respect and honesty at Top Margin and we always try and be forthcoming with you throughout our relationship.
I am planning on remodeling my home. When should I contact you about finish carpentry scheduling?
Remolds are great ways to improve and customize your home to suit your style and needs. We love to be involved early so that we can understand your plans and help coordinate with other contractors you may be hiring. Typically carpenters are among the first during a remodel, followed by rough electrical and plumbers. Drywall and painters come next, followed lastly by flooring. Final touch-up painting might also occur after your flooring. As a finish carpentry contractor with years of experience in design, we love to know what you are planning as early as possible so we can help you realize your vision.
There are many contractors and general handy-people out there. Why should I hire Top Margin?
There are many things you might explore during your vetting process when searching for a person to come into your home and make improvements.
First should be finding out if a contractor is licensed in the state of Virginia by the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation. Top Margin LLC has been licensed since January of 2019 and our master carpenter, Brandon Marcey, has over 9 years of experience in the field.
Next for your peace of mind, you should ask if the contractor is insured. Top Margin LLC and all our employees are covered by liability insurance. Viewing a contractor's portfolio and obtaining referrals are also important in your research. Top Margin LLC has provided finish carpentry services to some of the best general contractors in the area on large remodels like new additions and new construction. We have also been blessed with repeat customers that we hope to have lifetime relationships with as their needs and families evolve over time. Contact us and ask for referrals! We are happy to connect you with previous homeowners we have worked with.
A good contractor should never make you feel pressured. We hope you feel confident and comfortable to give us a call if you think we would be the right fit for your next project!
